Your 2006 MOST RADIO ACTIVE amateur is:

         DON BINKLEY, N4ZZ

Don logged 24,619 QSOs for the Tennessee Contest Group
during during 2006, which accounts for 11.5% of all TCG
QSOs logged. He operated in 52 contests for an average
of 473.4 QSOs per event. Way to go Don.

Our second Most Radio Active amateur of 2006 was Jim
Hall, AD4EB. Jim averaged 576 QSOs per contest by
logging 19,010 QSOs in 33 events.

TCG's third Most Radio Active member once again hails
from gracious and glowing Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
Congratulations Bill O'Kain, K4LTA for pounding out
15,373 QSOs in 39 events for an average of 394 QSOs
per contest. Great numbers Bill!

Once again, special recognition goes to Jeff Yeager,
K4JNY for being the 2006 TCG Most Host. Jeff pretty
much owns this title. In addition to his individual
contest efforts, Jeff contributed to ten contests
during the year by allowing guest-ops to invade his
home and operate the K4JNY station. Thank you Jeff
and thank you to everyone who invited guests into
your home for a contest during 2006. Here are the
Host totals.

Our top seven contesters for 2006, roughly 10% of those
submitting a log during the year, logged 98,804 QSOs
during the year, 46% of all TCG QSOs logged. These seven
were responsible for 286 logs or 34% of all TCG logs
submitted.

N4ZZ Don, AD4EB Jim and K4LTA Bill, the top three TCG
contesters of 2006, logged 27.6% of all TCG QSOs while
submitting 15% of the total logs.

In all, TCG members submitted logs for 162 different
contests in 2006, up from 144 in 2005. The event with
the most summaries and QSOs posted was the ARRL DX CW
back in February with 27 logs and 21,557 QSOs.

Here are the Top 10 TCG events of 2006:

These ten contests accounted for 6% of the events
participated in by TCG members in 2006. The total
QSOs logged in these ten events accounted for 52%
of all QSOs logged by TCG in 2006, and the 219 logs
submitted for these same ten events amounted to 26%
of all logs submitted during the year.

As seen in the chart below, the shortest month of
the year once again produced more QSOs for TCG than
any other month. April produced the least. Note,
Field Day scores are never included in the Radio
Active Report. Also note, due to TCG operating as
one of the two HQ stations (W1AW/4) representing the
United States and the ARRL in the July 9-10 IARU DX
contest, member scores from that event are not
included in the 2006 Radio Active Report.

Despite less than spectacular conditions, TCG continued
to churn out the QSOs in 2006. We posted 37 fewer logs
during 2006 than in 2005 and logged 38,973 fewer QSOs,
but participated in more events than in any of the last
five years.
