Subject: [TCG] Official Jan 2003 TCG Meeting minutes
The second meeting of the new 2003 year took place on
January 12, at the Old Country Buffet at Hendersonville, Tn.
The meeting began at 3:30 pm. The following contesters
signed the meeting roster:
Jeff NY4N
Jerry WB9BSH
Mark K0EJ
Kirk K4RO
Tom K1KY
Dan N7DLS
Chuck KE4OAR
Sue KF4EQS
The main topic of discussion was the election of new officers.
As our new constitution states, it would take a 25 percent vote of
members in good standing at the January meeting to vote on and pass
the nominations for Facilitator and the Executive Assistant. There
was not enough votes at the meeting to take a vote. At present, the
only two that had volunteered for the jobs was Ric, Wo4o, for
Facilitator, and Kirk, K4RO, for EA.
Per the Constitution, it will now be necessary to cast votes via
e-mail and US Postal mail. Look for a voting form from a TCG member
soon so as votes can be cast and tabulated. US Postal Mail can be
sent to TCG, P O Box 73, Dickson, TN 37056. Also, the e-mail votes
can be sent to me at: NY4N@aol.com. If the next meeting is to be on
the Feb 1, let's make the deadline for vote casting at Jan 31.
EA Note. It looks like Dan, N7DLS, has resigned as Facilitator
for the TCG effective Jan. 12, 2003. Dan has a lot on his plate at
this time and it was a joy working with him. If the Group has no
objections, I will take responsibility for collecting and tabulating
the votes for the new officers and make hard copies available at the
next TCG meeting.
Other discussions were about the NAQP CW contest this past weekend.
The TCG put a whopping seven teams together! Nice job by all. Looks
like TCG Team #1 will post about 1.3 meg in points. Lots of comments
on the nice band conditions, especially on the lower bands of 40, 80,
and 160. Many claim that this was their best NAQP CW effort ever.
Also, see other post on reflector about Mark's (K0EJ) new use for
duct tape.
Chuck, KE4OAR, brought the final 2002 Radio Active list to the
meeting. Looks like Don, K4WX, will have the most Q's this year
and Kirk, K4RO, will take home the MIC (Most Improved Contester)
award, having collected over 9000 + Q's more this year than last.
Congrats went out to both guys on a job well done.
I failed to mention, at the December meeting, the Group decided
and voted to accept that future MIC participants will have to operate
in no less than eight counting contests to qualify, which include all
ARRL, CQ, NCJ, Tennessee, California and Pennsylvania QSO parties.
Should be no problem to qualify.
Lastly, it is still a requirement to attend two meetings and
operate in two counting contests to be a member in good standing
for the Tennessee Contest Group.
Meeting ended about 4:45.
Respectfully submitted,
Jeff NY4N 2002 EA
