TCG Meeting Minutes - December 1, 2001

Thanks to all who came to the OCB for the December 1 meeting. The attendees
were as follows:

KE4OAR, K4AMC, K3CQ, WB9BSH, WD4K, K1KY, NY4T, KF4GKN, KG4PSU, KF4RKV, Wo4o,
W9WI, K4OOO, K0EJ, K4RO, WB4LHO, Blake and Hope.

The new officers for 2002 were elected at the meeting. Lee, NY4T will be
Facilitator and Jeff, NY4N will the the executive assistant. Good luck to
them and I know that they will get everyone's assistance in the comng year.

Larry, K4OOO, offered to edit a newsletter for TCG. That means he will
require articles and information to be submitted to him. Frequency and
format to be determined.

A number of members have noted working many unfamiliar TN calls in recent
contests. We will put on an effort contact those folks and tell them about
TCG. Kirk, K4RO, agreed to search out these new calls if members will send
them information. I'll let Kirk post a note on exactly what information he
needs and wants.

In order to boost participation in contests, we have decided that a
"champion" should be assigned for each contest. It is hoped that somone that
really loves a particular contest would volunteer for that contest building
enthusiasm for the contest, publish operting tips (good fodder for the
newsletter too!), publish beginner tips (more good newsletter fodder),
remind folks of dates and anything else that would help get the folks out
for that particular contest. One of the other major contest clubs has been
doing this with food success. Thanks to Ric, Wo4o, for bringin this idea to
our attention.

The new ARRL club area that is currently under review by the ARRL contest
folks would include all of Tennessee and virtually all TCG players that
currenlty play with us in the immediate neighboring states. (Sorry, Larry,
W0ETC, IA is just a bit too far out of the box :-) ).

Publication of the rescheduled TQP made it in several of the various
publications and e-mail lists, do hopefully we will have a good turn out.
Good luck to all. K4TCG will be played from W4CAT.

I hope everyone worked the Nashville Weather service office, K4OHX, during
the special event.

Thanks for everyone's support this year.

Respectfully submitted.

Chuck KE4OAR
