Meeting for Tennessee Contest Group, east division was held
2-6-99 at Ten-Tec in Sevierville, TN.  In attendance were:
W4PA, AC4LS, and KE4OAR.  Meeting called to order at 10:28 AM.

Items discussed:  The recent assignation of an international
telephone calling prefix and radio callsign prefixes by the ITU
for Palestine.  The callsign block assigned is E4A-E4Z and
the ARRL has already announced it will be a new DXCC counter
later in the year.  As this is an accessible area, it's likely
we will see E4 as a new multiplier for DX contests this year.

The new Canadian territory of Nunuvut has come into existence
but the ARRL has expressed no interest in separating Nunuvut from
Northwest Territories (VE8) for contest multiplier purposes.
There may be regional contests that will count this as a separate 
multiplier, however.

Kerbela hamfest Knoxville is Saturday March 6.  All present
indicated prior plans (ARRL DX SSB contest) but AC4LS indicated
he may attend and may carry the TCG banner for us.  It was
agreed to ask for a volunteer to man a TCG booth there.

The main Knoxville hamfest is Sunday, June 13 at the Knoxville
National Guard Armory and this year it has been declared the site 
of the 1999 ARRL Tennessee State Convention.  TCG is already 
listed on promotional literature as one of the attending clubs 
and we are committed to being there.  All present indicated they 
would attend.  W4PA has been asked by the hamfest committee to 
present a forum on contesting during the hamfest as well, but this 
is still under consideration.

Also noted by AC4LS is the coinciding of this hamfest and the
ARRL June VHF contest.  Discussion of the possibility of having 
the TCG represented outside in the flea market area with a VHF
contest station up and running rather than in the main exhibit
area.  Further discussion will be pending.  A VHF contest in
progess at a TCG attended hamfest would be a great opportunity to
introduce newer hams to contesting.

Brief discussion of building in progress at K4JNY's new QTH.
