Tennessee Contest Group - Meeting Minutes 11/14/98 @ Nashville

The Tennessee Contest Group met Saturday, November 14, 1998 at 
the Old Country Buffet reataurant in Nashville.

** Topics **

The Group discussed K1AO's "secret" wire antenna designs which 
allow him to make almost 1200 QSOs in SS with a ZERO tower station.
More than one attendee will likely be trying one of these designs
out before too long.  Ron's contesting results speak for themselves.  
No more excuses for the tower-impaired. :-)

Also revealed were unusual and sometimes effective pileup-busting 
techniques.  Special approaches for getting rid of pileup "policemen"
and deaf packet lizards were also covered.

The group agreed to propose the raising of funds to sponsor a plaque
for the NAQP contests.  K1KY will lead the collection, and forward 
the funds.  We decided to use the monies we collected for K1TCG QSL 
cards to go towards the plaques as well.  We can do this thanks to
KM7W who printed cards for us at his own time and expense.  The NAQP
multi-2 SSB plaque is still in need of sponsorship, and will likely
be the one sponsored by TCG.  Please direct any questions or discussion
to the list. 

Finally, a reminder that we will elect two new leaders for TCG in 
January.  It's not that hard of a job, and it can be quite rewarding.  
Please give some thought to TCG leadership for 1999, and consider
offering your support.  We get out of contesting what we put into it.

The rest of the meeting was filled with the usual stories of heroic
contesting feats, tales, laughter, and mirth.  A good time was had 
by all.
