TCG Meeting Minutes - 3/14/98

The March meeting of the Tennessee Contest Group was held at the
home QTH of Kirk Pickering - K4RO, with the following members 
present:

We kicked off the meeting at 9:30 a.m. with a guided tour of the
antenna farm, followed by a review of the ring-rotor project under
construction.

The group reassembled in the shack and Kirk gave a short TR-Log
tutorial.  Members then swapped stories for quite a while until
the business portion of the meeting was convened.

Items of utmost importance requiring infinite wisdom of the group:

TN QSO Party - It was decided that K4TCG will be active as a 
special event / bonus station. Participants who work K4TCG can 
claim 100 bonus points per band/mode.  K1KY has offered the Music
Mountain site for a multi-op on all bands using the club call.
Doug W9WI will finalize the rules and convey them to Kirk and 
arrange for publication in QST.  Mark September 20 (Sunday) on 
your calendar and activate your county.

NARC CW Challenge - TCG has been asked to help with the a CW
proficiency test/competition at the Nashville Hamfest.  The 
group agreed to help administer this event.  Wo4o will coordinate
with NARC to iron out the details.  K1KY can make his laptop
computer available with headphones and external amplified speakers.

WPX SSB Multi-Ops - We have a great group of TCG member sponsored
multi-op(erations) planned for the upcoming CQWW WPX SSB game.
KY4U - Hopkinsville, N5HV - Jackson, NT4L - Gallatin, NY4T - 
Murfreesboro, WW4RR - Nashville.  Members are encouraged to get 
on the air or stop by one of these operations and lend a hand.

The next meeting will be held at K1KY @ W4CAT high atop Music
Mountain in Gallatin on April 4 @ 10:00.  A good old cookout
will be held with chef 'KY serving as grillmeister.  There will
be a transmitter hunt following the meeting at 15:00 in Rutherford
County with KF4MCD and his team serving as the fox.
