Many thanks to Ric/Wo4o and Kirk/K4RO for their leadership and work in forming and
nurturing TCG during the formative stages.

Kirk will continue his fine work on the TCG Web Page and E-mail reflector.
Ric will continue his cheerleading duties and will hopefully continue to keep us
reminded of our travels through time.

Field Day 1998:

After much discussion on this topic, it is time to be thinking about the TCG 
efforts for Field Day 1998.  It appears that there will be a TCG station, organized
by Jim, K4AMC --location yet to be decided.  There are plenty of us to go around, 
and here is the preliminary operator distribution:

NARC Nashville - W9WI
SRARC Rutherford County - K1KY, NN4T, NY4T, KE4KMG
TCG - Wo4o, K4RO, K4AMC
RATS Nashville - W4KH
Maury Co - ?

All TCG members are encouraged to get out and support their local club operations,
or one listed above. We would like to keep track of who will be where, so please
let us know where you will be practicing your operating skills this year in the field!

Keep 'em coming folks, the more the merrier!   Even if you just plan
to get on for a little bit and have some fun, join a team and help us 
continue to put Tennessee Contest Group "on the map."  You'll also be
helping to meet your TCG membership requirements by participating on
a team and submitting your score.  This contest is Major Fun -- check 
it out!

TCG Meetings - 1998
-------------------------------
In order to maintain your status as an active TCG member and contribute to team 
competitions, you must attend at least TWO (2) in-person meetings per year.  To 
contribute to an ARRL sponsored event, first-time members must have attended at
least ONE (1) in-person meeting before the contest.  We intend to spread out the
meetings in order to make it easy for members (and potential members) to 
participate. The regular meetings are normally scheduled for the first Saturday 
of each month, barring any conflicts with major contests.  We will continue holding
them at various locations, including those well-recieved "field trips" to members
homes.  In addition, we will hold meetings at area hamfests thoughout the state as
appropriate.  Here is the list of known area hamfests and dates:

January 24  - Gallatin TN
February 28 - Dalton, GA
March 7   - Cave City, KY
March 14 - Knoxville, TN
March 28 - Tullahoma, TN
May 2 - Owensboro, KY
May 15-17 - Dayton, OH
June 6 - Nashville, TN
August 1 - Bowling Green, KY
August 15-16? - Huntsville, AL
October 10-11? - Memphis, TN
October 24-25 - Chattanooga, TN (CQ WW SSB Weekend)

There will be a TCG presence at the Gallatin, Nashville and Dayton hamfests and 
thus meetings will be declared at these hamfests.  If you know of additional hamfests
and would like to organize a TCG gathering, let your officers know and we will set 
it up.  We will also move some meetings throughout the state to accomodate the 
extreme travel, such as Cookeville/Crossville as long as there will be sufficient
attendance.  Steve, NN4T has graciously invited us back to his home for a meeting in
August/September.  This was indeed a real treat and we ould like to pick a date
convenient for maximum turnout.  If you are willing to host a TCG meeting, please 
contact K0EJ or K1KY.  


Other Business:

K4RO is re-writing the associate membership section of the by-laws.
W4KH & K1KY are working on TQP certificates and TCG QSL cards.
K4RO is willing to trade his logs for comparison in contests.

Next Meeting:   Feb. 7 1998 at the Old Country Buffet restaurant.
                This is the day of the CW Sprint contest.  There will
                be a special Pep Rally for Sprint skeptics. :-)
                Oh, and don't forget to join a TCG Sprint team!
